Meet the Crew
So who are we?
Are you wondering who we are? Of course you are! Why else would you be here?! We are one of 57 youth-driven alliances that stretch all across Ontario. We’re here to try and educate you, the youth, on tobacco-related issues. Our alliance consists of 7 enthusiastic youth who are part-time employees at the health unit and 1 youth advisor that keeps us under control, and not to mention all of the dedicated volunteers. We hope to empower the youth within our community to join our worthwhile fight against the tobacco industry and make a difference in our community. We really would like more local youth to be involved in our campaigns. If you’re interested check out our volunteer page!
What exactly do we do?
So, you are still here? Well okay I’ll get to the point then. We are a youth-driven alliance, which means, we the youth, come up with the ideas, and organize, and participate in community events and campaigns that show youth, that’s you, what’s really going on with the tobacco industry. So basically, we come up with cool, new ideas to get our community on board with our fight against the tobacco industry.
The Girls

Rachelia Giardino
Everyone in the group thinks that Rachella should be a history teacher. Rachella is a very serious person but doesn’t mind laughing when Usama jokes. Rachelia began working at the PYAA in March of 2007, along with Ethan. Her favorite event is a tie between the Summit 2007 and the “Chalkin’ It to the Streets” event. Rachelia is unsure about what her future holds, but it may include going to University and studying law.
The Boys

Ethan Gallant
Ethan is a sports loving member of the PYAA and started March of 2007. He was voted most likely to become a fitness trainer. Ethan wants to study ophthalmology at the University of Waterloo but doesn’t know if that dream will ever come true. Ethan says that Summit 2007 was the best thing that happened in his life. He is best known for his saying, “Those magnets are euthanized!” without knowing what it means.
Khyber Khattak
The Peer Leader voted most likely to become filthy rich! Khyber has been a member of this wonderful group since July of 2006. “You mess with me then you mess with my FAMILY” is Khyber’s most well-known saying. Khyber’s life goals are to buy an expensive car, live life to the fullest and last but not the least help the needy. Khyber likes to debate but there aren’t many people that can beat him in an argument except Jacqui who thinks she can beat him in an argument any day.
Usama Zahid
Usama was voted most likely to be the Mayor of Peterborough despite the fact that he knows nothing about politics. He has been with the PYAA since May of 2007. Usama wants to be a pimpin MIT grad. He is famous for his one and only quote, “Never take life seriously, nobody gets out of it alive anyway”. He thinks that Summit of 2007 was one of the most memorable times of his life.
