Vision:    Healthy people in healthy communities

Mission:  The Peterborough County-City Health Unit is a leader in promoting and protecting health in Peterborough County and City. 

Values:
Our work is guided by the following values and beliefs:

A Broad Definition of Health:
That health includes physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual aspects of well-being. 

Respect: 
That all people should be treated with dignity and respect.

The Right to Health:
That people can realize their full health potential through a safe and healthy environment; access to health services; adequate income, housing, food and education; and a valued role in the family, workplace, and community.

Individual Choice:
That we recognize that people have rights to make choices; that people benefit from  information and support in making informed decisions; and that people are responsible for the impact of their choices on the health and well-being of others.

Teamwork:
That our goals are best achieved through collaboration, cooperation, and working partnerships.

Excellence:
That excellence is achieved through continual learning, the dedication and unique skills of staff and volunteers, and our accountability for program effectiveness
