Health Unit Support for Workplace Wellness

How We Can Help - Health Unit Support for Workplaces

The Peterborough County-City Health Unit can support local workplaces in their workplace wellness efforts through the following:

  • WORKPLACE WELLNESS MATTERS NEWSLETTER

Workplace Wellness Matters is a quarterly newsletter for Peterborough City and County-based managers, human resources experts, occupational health and safety specialists and workplace wellness champions. It features information supporting the business case for workplace wellness, highlights local activities, opportunities and workplaces, and features speciality articles on various workplace health topics and resources. To sign up for Workplace Wellness Matters, please contact Kris Hazlitt at the Peterborough County-City Health Unit – khazlitt@pcchu.ca.

Previous issues of Workplace Wellness Matters:

Summer 2008- Coming Soon!

  • WORKPLACE WELLNESS E-BULLETIN

The Workplace Wellness E-Bulletin is an email sent out by Health Unit staff on an as needed basis. Each email sent will highlight one specific health and/or wellness event or issue in the community. Examples of recent E-Bulletins included information on community vaccination clinics, dates for local food drives, a commuter challenge, a smoking cessation support opportunity, a presentation on nordic walking by an international expert, and a community presentation on how to support people living with cancer. The E-Bulletin is generally a poster or brochure that employers can hang on bulletin boards or distribute electronically to staff.

  • COMPREHENSIVE WORKPLACE WELLNESS PROGRAM

The Comprehensive Workplace Wellness Program is an initiative in which the health unit supports the start-up of a wellness program within a specific, local workplace. It requires management commitment, the establishment of a wellness committee and active workplace involvement over a 2 – 3 year period. After an initial meeting, health unit staff participate in regular wellness committee meetings as a consultant and assist in the identification of the unique workplace health needs of the staff. The Peterborough County-City Health Unit will take on 3 new workplaces a year for this specialized program. Please contact the Workplace Wellness Health Promoter at 743-1000, for more details.
