BACKGROUND April 30 to May 6 has been designated this year's North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week. NAOSH Week was first launched in June 1997, marked by an agreement between Canada, the United Sates and Mexico. Again, this year, employers and workers across the continent of North America will take time out from their normal activities to promote the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace and at home. |
Given the estimated of shiftworkers in the four counties and increasing research that shows the health and safety effects of shiftwork, the Greater Peterborough Area Client Services Health and Safety Council, Peterborough County-City Health Unit, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit, Health for Life and HRSD Canada are celebrating NAOSH week with a shiftwork campaign “Making Shiftwork Work for You”.
The campaign will provide employers and employees with information and tools to enable individuals to successfully manage shiftwork.
The following lists will help organizations establish policies and activities that will support employees to adapt to a shiftwork lifestyle so they may be safer, healthier and more productive.
List of resources available for employees (or as an orientation package to be used by employers)
List of resources for the organization/employers
This campaign is brought to you by the members of the Greater Peterborough Area Client Services Health and Safety Council and funded in part by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.
