The Peterborough County-City Health Unit collects immunization information on students in elementary and secondary schools and from day care attendees. Students/ attendees who are inappropriately immunized may be excluded from school until the period of risk is over if the Health Unit receives a report of a suspected or confirmed vaccine-preventable disease in the school. Students with no or inadequate immunization on file can be suspended from school until appropriate information is received.
The routine immunization schedule depicts the vaccines provided free of charge (for eligible clients) and recommended by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. (NOTE: The number of doses vary depending on how old the child was when the vaccines were initiated and the intervals between the immunizations.)
If you have questions about these diseases or the vaccines, go to the immunization section of this website or call the Vaccine Preventable Diseases program at (705)743-1000.
