Expanded Publicly Funded Immunization:

The Health Unit is pleased to offer more free vaccines to local children and adults thanks to the Ontario government’s recently expanded immunization program.  Details about the new program and vaccines are provided below:

School Based Immunizations:

Immunization uses vaccines to stimulate the immune system to make antibodies. Vaccines used for routine immunizations are very effective and have extremely low risks of serious side effects. The immunization program provides information and offers clinics for selected vaccines. 

Find out when Health Unit nurses will be in your local school to vaccinate grade seven and eight students against HPV, meningitis and Hepatitis B. 


Health Unit nurses will have all three vaccines on hand when visiting schools in the spring and can immunize any student with signed consent forms. 
If you have missed a scheduled vaccination day at your child's school and would still like to protect your child from Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Hepatitis B, and/or Meningococcal disease the following "catch-up" clinics are scheduled to occur at the Peterborough County-City Health Unit (10 Hospital Drive):
