Influenza in Peterborough
 

The Peterborough County-City Health Unit has received confirmation of six laboratory confirmed cases of influenza A this season. Influenza vaccine clinics are scheduled for Thursday, January 18^th and Thursday, January 25^th at Portage Place from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. However, due to the demand for influenza vaccine we have added an evening vaccine clinic on Tuesday, January 16^th at Portage Place from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
 

Influenza in Ontario
 

Fluwatch, from August 27, 2006 to December 30, 2007, reports 144 cases of influenza in Ontario. One hundred and forty of the cases were influenza A and four were influenza B.
 

Influenza Vaccine
 

The National Microbiology Laboratory has characterized 84 influenza viruses for the 2006-2007 season. All but one of the strains characterized are included in the composition of this season's vaccine.
