Delicious served with tossed greens and salad dressing.
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup green pepper
3/4 lb. ground beef
16 oz. tomato sauce
1-14 oz. can corn, drained
1 clove garlic
1 tbsp. sugar
2-3 tsp. chili powder
Dash of pepper
1 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups cold water
1 tbsp. butter
1. Brown ground beef, onion and green pepper. Drain fat.
2. Add tomato sauce, corn, garlic, sugar, chili powder, pepper and simmer 20 minutes.
3. For cornmeal topping, stir cornmeal and salt into cold water in saucepan. Cook and stir until thick.
4. Add butter and mix well.
5. Put ground beef mixture into casserole. Spoon cornmeal mixture over meat in 3 lengthwise strips.
6. Bake at 375 F for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
Serves 6.
