Dental Screening in Schools

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS

We will be doing oral health screenings with all Junior and Senior Kindergarten (JK/SK) children, and randomly selected students in grades 2 and 8 at your child’s school. Depending on the results, the remaining grade 2 and 8 students, as well as grades 4 and 6 may be seen.

We also collect data on levels of decay which give us an overall picture of the oral health of children in our community to compare with the province.

Oral health screening involves a brief visual inspection using a sterile mirror and explorer. Latex products are not used. Following screening, a card will be sent home with your child to let you know the results.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly at (705) 743-1000, ext. 280. If I am not available, please leave a voice mail message.
